Claudette Barker’s brush strokes hint of her early career in watercolors. Her palette is always as soft and warm as the artist herself. Each painting interprets the nurturing elements she seeks out in the southwestern landscape. Frequent trips to the desert and Northern Arizona forests keep her canvases fresh and new.

Claudette Barker's Profile

Painting most of her life, Claudette Barker studied with numerous nationally known artists. She enjoys sharing knowledge and enthusiasm for painting with her students. She has taught workshops throughout the Midwest as well as in Michigan, Florida, Arizona and California.

Her paintings are exhibited in private and corporate collections throughout the United States, Europe, Mexico and Canada. Her work is included in the book Places in Watercolor by Betty Lou Schlemm. Permanent corporate collections include AT&T, General Motors, Sprint and General Mills.

Collectors praise Barker's combination of colors, textures and depth of vision. Her paintings seem to reach out to the viewer, inviting them to get lost in the landscape. Her flowing style and heavy strokes of the brush add dimension, texture and a sense of movement. Rolling hills and broad meadows host trees that seem to be caught swaying in a gentle breeze. This exquisite skill of capturing movement in a landscape makes Barker's work unique and her style her own.
